As a Fellow, you’ll work with a diverse global team dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions that help our clients leave behind the legacy of difficult systems and instead leverage a powerful, user-friendly platform that lets them focus on what’s important: carrying out their missions.
Fellows play key roles across our service delivery, customer success, marketing, operations, consulting, and product teams and benefit from ongoing learning opportunities, leadership development, and mentorship from leaders within Vera. In previous years, we have gathered all Fellows for a week of in-person, intensive training to lay a foundational understanding of the company and of basic technical concepts. However, in the last few years, we’ve adopted a remote onboarding and training framework for cohorts. The training is a mix of dynamic sessions on the project lifecycle, Amp Impact, and the Salesforce platform, with team-building and professional skills development activities.
Joining Vera as a 2017-18 Cape Town Fellow, Hetile grew to become a Senior Consultant before transitioning to a Solutions Engineer role. She is known for her strong and level-headed project management combined with impressive technical growth working across various important projects. She goes above and beyond in finding ways to improve our internal processes and always lends a hand to support our growing team. Prior to joining Vera, Hetile worked as Communications Coordinator at IkamvaYouth, an NGO whose primary focus is breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty through education.
Cíntia joined Vera in June 2018 as our first Associate Consultant based in São Paulo. She is known for going above and beyond to build trustful relationships with everyone she works with and working diligently to deliver the highest quality projects for our clients. With a strong work ethic and an attentive care for our growing team in São Paulo, her passion and commitment shine through in our day-to-day work at Vera. Prior to joining Vera, Cíntia worked as a Consultant for the Gender and Diversity Division at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington D.C. She holds a B.A. in Public Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas in São Paulo (EAESP) and as a JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) Scholar she earned a Master’s in Development Economics at Kobe University in Japan.
Ritika joined as a 2018-19 Fellow based in Mumbai before she was promoted to Consultant in January 2019. At Vera, she enjoys building scalable data solutions that drive meaningful insights for social organizations. Her prior experience includes building electronic health records, mobilizing health information exchanges for private US markets, and developing a strategy to promote uptake of ICT tools for improving population health for the Ministry of Health in Barcelona. She holds a Master in International Healthcare Management, Economics, and Policy from SDA Bocconi School of Management, Milano; and a BE in Biomedical Engineering from Mumbai University.
Samantha (Sam) joined Vera in June 2015 as an Associate Consultant based in Cambridge, MA. She transitioned to her current role as a Solutions Architect in 2016 and has since had a hand in all of Vera North America’s projects and RFPs to design technically sound solutions for Vera’s clients, and earned herself four Salesforce certifications. Prior to joining Vera, Sam worked with Grassroot Soccer in South Africa to coordinate and run HIV/AIDS education and prevention programs for adolescents. She holds a BA in Psychology with a concentration in pre-medicine from Williams College.
Justin joined as part of the 2017-18 Fellowship cohort helping our Solutions and Innovations team. His key roles included supporting clients during implementation, conducting research to inform best practices and approaches, building proof-of-concept systems for RFPs/demos, and maintaining and innovating Vera’s internal Salesforce System. Currently a Senior Consultant, Justin tackles solution design and technical problems, while maintaining half of his time to assist in any R&D, innovation, and internal support that may be needed. Justin holds degrees in Information Systems Management and Social Sciences from Stellenbosch University.
Gabriella (Gabi) joined Vera in June 2017 as a Product Associate in Mumbai, where she now sits as Product Manager. She has brought creative, insightful, and powerful design work into Vera’s growing products line and she helps keep our product team and roadmap on track. Prior to joining Vera, Gabi dedicated several years to education and youth development through a number of direct service roles in the San Francisco Bay Area before transitioning to the operations and technology sides of the nonprofit sector. Gabi earned a dual degree in Anthropology and Psychology from UC Berkeley.
Our application process is designed to assess your fit for Vera Solutions, as well as your skills and experience. Every year, we receive a high volume of inspiring candidates, and can only accept a small percentage.
All Fellows will join a mandatory orientation and training week in July (exact dates to be determined). Fellowships will commence directly following the orientation week.
Fellows work in our Cape Town, London, Mumbai, São Paulo, and Boston offices.
The Fellowship, and employment with Vera in general, is a full-time commitment – your Fellowship lasts for your first year at Vera, but you will also have a job title separate from Fellow (e.g. Associate Consultant) and remain employed beyond that as long as you have demonstrated growth and continued commitment to developing your technical, project management, and communication skills.
Fellows are permanent, full-time staff and play an integral part towards the company’s success. The legacy of the fellowship is apparent around the company – former fellows have grown to take up leadership positions in technical design, project management, and business development.
Though not guaranteed, fellows may travel very occasionally for project work or team retreats (often not more than 1-2 times per year).
Yes! As with all members of our team, Fellows receive compensation commensurate with the cost of living and receive all of Vera’s company-wide benefits, including 100% coverage of health insurance premiums, paid parental leave, and generous paid time off.
