Vera is honored to announce our selection into the Rainer Arnhold Fellows Program as Taylor Downs joins the select cohort of social entrepreneurs chosen to participate in the two-year program. The Mulago Foundation awards these fellowships to memorialize Rainer Arnhold, a physician who dedicated his life to delivering quality healthcare to children around the world. Mulago staff and faculty support fellows in developing and refining effective and scalable solutions to big problems in health, poverty, and conservation in developing countries.
“We recognize more and more the power that good information systems have to drive impact, and we look for those doing innovative work who are equally serious about their impact,” said Kevin Starr, Managing Director of the Mulago Foundation. “We think the Fellows Program is a huge opportunity for Vera to deepen its understanding of design for amplified impact, as well as a chance for other Fellows to learn about the importance of strong information systems.”
In the course of the fellowship, Taylor will attend annual weeklong design-for-impact courses led by Mulago faculty. Staff will provide year-round mentorship and conduct biannual structural consultations. Vera will benefit from connections with other fellows who draw on their own experience to provide feedback about Vera’s opportunities to grow, and site visits will facilitate the exchange of ideas, support, and learning.
“Vera knows what a pivotal role consistent self-reflection plays in removing barriers to success, both in our work to improve clients’ data systems and efforts to improve Vera internally. The Fellows Program will provide us with experienced mentorship in regularly reevaluating our impact model and internal processes,” said Taylor. “Entering this symposium of talented social entrepreneurs marks the beginning of an exciting new stage of collaborative growth for Vera.”
Vera is thrilled to join the Rainer Arnhold community and knows the Fellows Program will play an integral role in Vera’s continued success.
