5 Organizations Leveraging Amp Impact and Salesforce to Drive More Effective Program Delivery

Whether nonprofits are working to advance global health, improve livelihoods, or protect the climate, effective program delivery is essential for achieving impactful results. For many international non-governmental organizations (iNGOs) managing millions of dollars in inbound grants and reporting to dozens of funders, accurate data management is crucial. Amp Impact, an impact measurement and portfolio management application built on the Salesforce platform, addresses these challenges by helping iNGOs centralize program data management and track their performance.

Amp Impact enables organizations to monitor results against targets, leveraging standard and custom indicators, which can be aligned to specific projects, thematic areas, and/or regions. Built on the Salesforce Platform, it seamlessly connects to other Salesforce-based and Salesforce-integrated applications, providing a one-stop-shop for managing program, portfolio, and impact data.

In this blog, we explore how five organizations — Catholic Relief Services (CRS), World Vision, PATH, WaterAid, and Tearfund utilize Amp Impact and Salesforce to enhance their program delivery.

How 5 iNGOs Benefit from Amp Impact and Salesforce

1. Catholic Relief Services

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is dedicated to driving transformational change at scale through its ambitious 2030 agency strategy. To effectively track their progress, CRS has integrated Amp Impact with their existing Salesforce-based project management system to capture project and country level results. This integration was essential for managing reporting in their extensive portfolio of 600+ projects across 70+ countries. The indicator catalog in Amp Impact supports the management of 25 standard indicators aligned to the strategic goal areas that are crucial for assessing progress toward achieving their ambitious goals. The standard indicators facilitate consistent reporting across the portfolio and ensure they can aggregate the data to see the global impact of their programming over time.

2. World Vision

World Vision, a global Christian humanitarian organization, works to improve the lives of children, families, and communities. To further their mission, World Vision implemented a system for program and project management as well as impact measurement leveraging Amp Impact and Salesforce. This initial implementation allowed the team to test and refine the system’s features before scaling it across the World Vision federation.

Given World Vision’s broad network, it was vital to create a system that not only fit their short-term needs but could also evolve over time. In this setup, Amp Impact is utilized to measure impact and performance, manage portfolio activities, and enhance collaboration – all seamlessly integrated with Salesforce. This combination ensures efficient data collection and management, supports international strategic engagement, and improves data-driven decision-making, leading to better project planning and delivery. World Vision has now partnered with Vera Solutions to engage in two discovery and design work streams for future system improvements and are refining the initial MVP system.

3. PATH

PATH is a global nonprofit dedicated to achieving health equity. With more than 40 years of experience forging multi sector partnerships, and with expertise in science, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales up innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing health challenges.

In 2021, PATH launched a five-year strategy, with a commitment to improving accountability and transparency of organization-wide results. To support this commitment, PATH leadership decided to invest in a central results system that would support routine capture of results data in a unified way. With an interest in investing in existing solutions that were already in use at PATH, the organization decided to integrate Amp Impact with its existing Salesforce system. This integration allowed expanded use of Salesforce for results reporting.

PATH trained project monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) staff as primary users of the application to set up and maintain their project results and related information in the system. With Amp Impact, PATH collects and shares data that helps to visualize its portfolio in many ways, including reporting projects by locations served, health areas, results and milestones achieved, and impact on population served. PATH can slice and dice results by all levels in the institution (division, sub-division, program) and set up standard indicators for different portfolios. This centralized system allows access to updated information on impact and growth in the portfolio during the strategy period and supports management decisions by providing data on project implementation and key accomplishments.

The integration also helps PATH demonstrate value for money more clearly. Reporting at PATH is more standardized and supports access to data by everyone of PATH, allowing greater use of data in decision-making at all levels of PATH, which aligns with its five-year strategy.

4. WaterAid

WaterAid is focused on improving access to clean water, decent sanitation, and good hygiene around the world. The international not-for-profit works alongside communities in 22 countries to secure these three essentials that transform people’s lives. To support its work, WaterAid Australia and UK recently launched a joint system built on Amp Impact and Salesforce. This has seen over 600 staff move from two legacy systems and a multitude of spreadsheets into one unified system for contract and project management.

To streamline its operations, WaterAid integrated its new system with other existing systems, enabling documents and selected financial data to be visible in one place for staff in the countries where they work. This integration, along with the unified system, will simplify processes across business development and project management, including project setup, monitoring, risk management, budgeting, and closeout. The new system assists country programme staff with business development, programme management, project management, and financial monitoring – providing a single source of truth.

5. Tearfund

Tearfund is a Christian charity focused on fighting poverty and injustice around the globe. They work in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East to provide emergency help, support long-term development, and drive social change. Their efforts include everything from quick relief in crisis situations to ongoing projects that aim to make a lasting impact in the communities they support. They upgraded from an outdated system to a new, cloud-based Salesforce solution to address issues with disjointed technology. This new system, which incorporates Amp Impact, is designed to consolidate grant and partner management into a single application. The absence of a central data system made it difficult for staff in country offices, project managers, finance teams, and compliance officers to assess partner and project performance. All of them faced challenges due to outdated systems and inefficient processes.

With the transition to Salesforce and Amp Impact, Tearfund streamlined its operations by reducing manual tasks and improving data synchronization. The new system supports multiple currencies and languages, facilitates data migration, and integrates more effectively with Google Drive. By providing a unified source of truth, the system enhances user adoption and collaboration, while working with the organization’s existing tools. It manages accounts, contacts, partners, projects, and budgets, delivering real-time data and improved functionality to support program delivery and compliance management.

Understanding Amp Impact and Salesforce

These organizations have benefited from Amp Impact and it’s useful to understand how the solution works with Salesforce. Amp Impact simplifies the tracking of performance indicators. It helps with data consolidation, management, and reporting processes, moving organizations away from complex spreadsheets and disconnected reports to a centralized platform. This integration supports program managers and MEL practitioners by ensuring that data feeds directly into the management of their projects.

By being built natively on the Salesforce Platform, Amp Impact integrates seamlessly with other Salesforce applications and can be connected–leveraging Salesforce’s robust API’s – to other enterprise systems. This flexibility and interoperability allow Amp Impact to be used within existing Salesforce CRMs and alongside other tools, improving data sharing and collaboration.
The integration of Amp Impact with Salesforce is proving valuable for organizations like WaterAid, Tearfund, World Vision, PATH, and CRS. By providing a central platform to track impact, activities and milestones, expenditure, and risk, Amp Impact helps these organizations improve their program delivery and reach their goals more effectively. For large or growing nonprofits, tools like Amp Impact and Salesforce have become essential for managing programs and measuring their impact. Saving time and headaches, these systems make staff more productive and amplify development efforts.
